Brian Gallagher will deliver this year's annual Endowed Chair in Criminology and Criminal Justice Lecture, entitled, "It is Time to Speak! MMIWG2S Realities, A Dad's Perspective."

"We must honour the lives of our women and take strong action to create safer spaces for everyone. Particularly on the prairies, the realities for MMIWG2S are at a crisis level."

One of the many victims is Brian's daughter Megan Gallagher. He will share a life altering journey through the process of surviving the murder of his amazing daughter. Details will include navigating through the legal and justice systems, working with support agencies, family members and the media.

Like Megan Gallagher's murder, there are emerging distinct and disturbing similarities in many cases that show comparable violence towards our loved ones.  Mr. Gallagher will address the strategies for addressing these realities that need to be built, reinforcing that change begins with hard conversations.

Please note that this lecture contains a discussion of the murder of Indigenous women and girls.
